Whole-Cut Salmon Pioneer Plantish Rebrands to Oshi Ahead of US Restaurant Launch

Israeli startup Plantish, which set out in 2021 to transform the plant-based seafood category with whole-cut plant-based fish, announces it is rebranding to Oshi ahead of the launch of its salmon into US restaurants later this year. The company also announces a collaboration agreement (an MoU) with Coop to roll out its whole-cut salmon, initially in the Swiss country (touted for 2025), and later expand into other EU nations. “The name “Oshi” symbolizes the ocean, which is a vital part of our planet and a source of inspiration for us. Plantish Raises $12.5M for Whole Cut Plant-Based Fish in Alt-Seafood’s “Largest Ever” Seed Round

Israeli startup Plantish, which develops whole cut plant-based fish, has raised $12.5 million in a seed funding round led by State Of Mind Ventures. Other participants included Pitango Health Tech, Unovis, and TechAviv Founder Partners. Plantish says the raise is the largest ever seed funding round for an alt-seafood company. It follows on from the startup’s $2 million pre-seed round last June. The funding will be used to expand Plantish’s team and increase R&D efforts, as well as to work towards commercialisation. Plantish Unveils Whole Cut Plant-Based Salmon Nutritionally Equivalent to Fish

Most of the plant-based seafood products currently on the market are alternatives to more processed options such as fish fingers and fishcakes. But Israeli startup Plantish has set out to change that with what it claims is the world’s first whole cut plant-based salmon. Following a $2 million funding round last year, Plantish has completed the development of a prototype.
