Purezza Merges With La Fauxmagerie to “Combine the UK’s Best Plant-Based Restaurant & Cheese Brand”

British plant-based pizza chain Purezza has announced a merger with female-led artisan vegan cheese producer La Fauxmagerie, acquiring a majority stake in the company. Following the merger, the companies will expand their collaborations with the aim of “creating sustainable plant–based products and menus which appeal to all, regardless of dietary requirements”. Purezza says the merger will support its ethos of sourcing high-quality ingredients from local artisans. The chain currently has three locations in Brighton, Camden, and Manchester. The news comes just a few months after Purezza announced that its Stracciazza cheese alternative would be launching on vegan pizzas at all Everyman Cinemas locations UK-wide. Vegan Cheese by Purezza Launches at Everyman Cinemas UK-Wide

UK-based vegan pizzeria and cheese producer Purezza has announced that its plant-based ‘Stracciazza’ cheese is set to launch at Everyman Cinemas. The cheese, which is an alternative to stracciatella, will be available at all 38 of the cinema chain’s locations across the UK, served on hand-stretched vegan pizzas. “If you’re a fan of burrata, stracciatella is the stringy cheese inside,” said Mitch Lee, head of sales at Purezza. “Our vegan Stracciazza is equally as creamy, moreish, and delicious, so order up a slice and enjoy your movie!” Aquafaba-based cheeses When Purezza opened its first location in 2015, it claimed to be Europe’s first fully vegan pizzeria. Sentient Ventures Invests £2M In Female-Founded Companies Disrupting the Food System

UK-based impact fund Sentient Ventures has announced its first three investments — all into female-founded companies. A combined £2 million has been invested into dairy-free cheesemonger La Fauxmagerie, vegan pizza chain Purezza, and plant-based chicken brand Rebellyous. It comes as figures suggest that female-founded companies are chronically underfunded, receiving just 1p of every £1 of venture funding in the UK. Male founder teams get 89p, while mixed-gender teams get 10p. La Fauxmagerie Founded by sisters Charlotte and Rachel Stevens, La Fauxmagerie claims to be the UK’s first plant-based cheesemonger. The co-founders report that the investment has allowed them to “aggressively scale our manufacturing division and build our team”, leading to a listing at 104 Waitrose supermarkets.
