Silk Claims No Vegan Greek Yogurt Has Hit the Mark Until Now, With New Silk Greek Products

Silk, a Danone subsidiary, has stated this week that while Greek offerings dominate the yogurt category, encompassing nearly half of yogurt sales, so far plant-based alternatives have ” struggled to deliver” in terms of the thickness and texture of Greek style yogurt. Until now. The new range consists of Vanilla, Strawberry, Lemon, and Blueberry, produced with a coconut milk base, and the company says that “Silk Greek is seriously thick… in fact, it’s so thick, you can flip over a spoonful and it won’t budge!” Other companies producing a vegan Greek-style product include Kite Hill, Alpro, Oatly, and Meadow Foods in the UK. The campaign features three celebrities that Silk has named the G.O.A.T in their fields. Among them is celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, famous for his no-holds-barred, often expletive-ridden criticisms of anything that falls below his standards. Dean Foods: A New Focus on Plant-Based Milk Alternatives

As demand for traditional dairy products continues to decline, plant-based alternatives are becoming increasingly popular. This has also had an impact on the US dairy company Dean Foods in the form of a drop in profits. In order to counteract its losses and simultaneously realign itself, the company now wants to concentrate largely on marketing plant-based milk product brands such as Good Karma. Last year, the dairy industry recorded a fall in profits of around 91 percent in the third quarter, not least as a result of falling consumer demand for conventional dairy products. As a result, contracts were terminated for many milk suppliers, and more investment was announced in the field of plant-based alternatives. “We want to get back into the plant-based business,” said …
