SunOpta, a US-based food and beverage company specializing in sustainable plant-based beverages and ingredients, is marking its 50th anniversary by reflecting on its five-decade journey. Established in 1973 under the name StakeTech, the company initially focused on biomass conversion for animal feed. SunOpta and Seven Sundays Launch “First Ever” Cereals With Oats Upcycled From Oat Milk Production

Plant-based foods and beverage company SunOpta, headquartered in Minnesota USA, announces what it describes as a first-of-its-kind partnership with breakfast company Seven Sundays. The news comes as SunOpta shareholders have been notified that CEO & Director Joseph Ennen has purchased US$101k worth of company stock, according to Simply Wall St. Through the partnership, the companies have launched the “first-ever” Oat Protein Cereal made with SunOpta’s upcycled oat protein powder OatGold™, a byproduct of oat milk production. SunOpta Opens $125M ‘Mega Facility’ in Texas to Double Plant-Based Milk Business

SunOpta (Nasdaq: STKL), a leading producer of healthy foods and beverages, announces the opening of a $125M plant-based beverage production facility in Midlothian, Texas. According to SunOpta, the new ‘mega facility’ will create 175 jobs and strongly expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities, allowing it to double its business by 2025 compared to 2020.  Strategically located in Texas, the new production facility currently features 285,000 square feet, where it will manufacture the company’s entire suite of plant-based milks and creamers, along with tea and other products. SunOpta’s Revenues Reach Record $243.5M in Q2, Driven by Plant-Based Foods

In the second quarter of 2022, SunOpta’s revenues increased by 20.4% to reach $243.5 million, the natural foods company has reported. Growth was largely driven by a 31.0% rise in plant-based food and beverage sales. The segment generated revenues of $145.9 million, with an increase in the number of oat-based products, plant-based beverages, and teas available. Prices rose by 13.7% due to inflation and an increase in the cost of sunflower products. There was also a 7.4% growth in revenue for fruit-based products, which generated sales of $97.6 million. Demand for frozen fruit slightly decreased, but this was offset by higher demand for fruit snacks and smoothie bowls. SunOpta Introduces Protein Powder Made With Upcycled Oat Milk Waste

Plant-based food and beverage company SunOpta has launched OatGold™, a protein powder made with upcycled oat milk waste. The highly nutritious powder can be used in baked goods, spreads, dips, and snacks. OatGold is made from insoluble solids which are a byproduct of SunOpta’s oatbase production (oatbase is the primary ingredient in oat milk). The resulting powder has three times as much protein as oat flour and is high in fibre. It also has a neutral taste and is certified gluten-free. Upcycled food OatGold has been accredited by Upcycled Certified, the only third-party certification program in the world for upcycled products.
