Beyond Leather Materials, a Danish scale-up producing an alternative to animal leather, has announced a partnership with the sustainably progressive design and manufacturing facility Veshin. Using apple waste from European juice and cider production, Beyond Leather Materials produces an 89% bio-based leather alternative called Leap. Through the new partnership, the two companies will use the material to create products for various markets, including the fashion, home, and furniture sectors. Veshin Announces Partnership With Natural Fiber Welding

Veshin – a Chinese factory that produces fashion accessories for sustainable brands around the world, announces a partnership with Natural Fiber Welding (NFW) to create products made with the company’s leather alternative, Mirum. As part of the partnership, a team of expert designers and craftspeople with decades of experience will help brands source, design, scale, and launch products made with Mirum. The leather alternative is a high-performance, plastic-free material which is rapidly gaining popularity in the luxury accessory industry, having been used by brands such as Germany’s Melina Bucher. Plastic-free alt leather “Many ‘vegan leathers’ are marketed as ‘plant-based,’ but they also contain plastics like polyurethane. Veshin Launches Extensive Pineapple Leather Range, Including Pillows & Handbags

Sustainable fashion manufacturer Veshin has launched a pineapple leather range featuring products such as pillows, handbags, placemats, and wallets. The range is called the Piñatex Performance Collection and is produced in collaboration with sustainable textiles brand Ananas Anam. All products are vegan, durable, as soft as conventional leather, and free of all the chemicals on the Cradle2Cradle list of banned substances. They are also manufactured using closed-loop production, with residual leaf biomass used as a natural fertilizer and biofuel.
