Enlightened Ice cream has announced the launch of a new dairy-free line to its range of high-protein, low-sugar ice cream treats. Enlightened is not the first company to realise there is a market in healthier, vegan ice cream, but it claims to be the fastest-growing brand in the ‘better-for-you’ ice cream set.
The North American company has a widespread distribution in the USA, in stores like Whole Foods, Kroger, Shoprite, Publix, Target and many more. Enlightened is the first and largest brand within Beyond Better Foods, a New York City-based company committed to creating healthier snack options. CEO Michael Shoretz founded Beyond Better Foods in 2012, drawing inspiration from his personal training clients’ desire for healthy alternatives to their favourite sweet, salty, spicy and savoury treats. Beyond Better Foods now includes Enlightened, Bada Bean Bada Boom and Cloud10.
The dairy-free bars are crafted using an almond milk base to recreate the same taste, creamy texture and rich flavour Enlightened is known for, in a plant-based format. Consistent with the brand’s commitment to nutrition, each SKU is 100 calories or fewer, as well as 100% vegan and gluten-free. The flavours draw on inspiration from the classic favourites, including Salted Caramel, Mint Chip, Mocha Chocolate Chip, Monkey Business, Peanut Butter & Jelly.
Mr Shoretz commented, “We’re thrilled to introduce our creamy dairy-free frozen desserts in spoon-free format. With the introduction of our dairy-free pints, we began serving a whole new community, and offering our dairy-free bars was the next logical step. But whether you’re dairy-free or just an ice cream lover, we’re confident you’ll love our new bars!”
