The German hypermarket chain Kaufland expands its vegan range under their own brand”K-Take it Veggie. New products include six vegan and organic drinks, among others spelt, oat and coconut based. They are not only suitable for drinking, but are also ideal for cereal, cooking or baking.

Kaufland is part of the German Schwarz Gruppe, a private family-owned retail group that also owns and operates the Lidl brand. Kaufland operates more than 660 stores in Germany and employs around 75,000 people. Kaufland has been offering vegan and vegetarian products under its own brand since October 2016.

Now, in response to to the high and constantly growing demand, Kaufland expands its vegetarian and vegan assortment, and the range has risen to over 50 veggie products. In addition to tofu and convenience products such as schnitzel, lasagne or falafel, there are also spreads, yoghurt, snacks and milk substitutes such as ice cream, cakes and desserts. From June, there will be an almond-based vegan ice cream with banana and walnut pieces and vanilla-flavored vegan wafer horns. The company is also currently examining the possibility of introducing a vegetarian or vegan alternative to the classic Bratwurst sausage into its own brand range.

“Being able to opt for healthy and vegan nutrition should not be a question of the price. Therefore we offer a variety of vegan and vegetarian products under our private label K-Take it Veggie”, says Sebastian Schlag, Head of Kaufland private label.
