The United Arab Emirates-based food manufacturer Global Food Industries (GFI) presented a new plant-based burger at this year’s Gulfood 2019. The company, which belongs to Albatha Holding, one of the largest conglomerates in the United Arab Emirates, is the first and only local company to address changing food preferences. GFI is planning to launch the “Never from meat” plant-based product range under the Healthy Farm brand.
The new plant-based burger has been designed not just for vegetarians and vegans, but for all health- conscious consumers. It contains 20 percent more protein, 40 percent fewer calories and 50 percent less fat than conventional burgers.
GFI officially presented its new pea protein burger under the Healthy Farm brand at Gulfood 2019. Jacek Plewa, General Manager of GFI, said: “More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of healthy eating and we at Healthy Farm want to contribute to this with our Never from meat range. Research shows that 29% of US consumers are now flexitarians. In the United Arab Emirates, 40 percent of consumers are open to meat alternatives, mostly for health, animal welfare and environmental reasons. They choose plant-based protein products not only to improve their health, but also to reduce their CO2 footprint”.
