Rügenwalder Mühle is a  meat production company based in North Germany, who since 2014 have been gradually increasing their number of meat alternatives, such as sausages, escalopes, and deli slices, to great success. This meat-free range has proved immensely popular in Germany, and last year their reported turnover reached 210 million euros, with 30% coming from vegetarian and vegan products.

Rügenwalder Mühle now announce the expansion of their vegan line with three new products: Vegan Filet Type Chicken, Vegan Steak Type Beef and Vegan Mills Sliced Type Chicken. All three  products are manufactured completely without animal contents materials and without any use of flavour enhancers.

The company stated in an interview with vegconomist last year, that they intend to veganise their entire vegetarian range: “We are trying to make our new meat-free products vegan from the beginning. And we are working intensively to adapt the existing products from our veggie range to make them vegan”

Speaking of the new vegan products, Marco Endelmann, Brand Management at Rügenwalder Mühle stated: “With the new, plant-based products, we now bring even more delicious variety to the table – especially for consumers who do not want to eat any animal products. In doing so, we consistently set our goal to develop meat-free new products directly with a vegan recipe.”

The new products will be available in refrigerated retail sections from 01 April in Germany.
