The US snack and candy brand “Seva Foods” has launched “Space Ice Kream”, the world’s first freeze-dried plant-based ice cream. According to Seva Foods, the ice cream should have the rich taste of ordinary ice cream and at the same time be a practical snack for the road.

Freeze-dried ice cream was originally developed for the Apollo space missions in the 1960s. The product is based on coconut and cashew and is available in bite-sized pieces. In Carlsbad, California, the vegan ice cream is produced in small batches, processed only as far as necessary and does not contain any additives. It is then freeze-dried to preserve as many nutrients as possible. In the USA, the “Space Ice Kream” is available in strawberry and vanilla flavours.

“With the perfect combination of taste, health and practicality, our products offer a wealth of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Always soya-free, gluten-free, without refined sugar or oil additives and with an average of only 100 calories per serving, our snacks and sweets provide the energy you need without slowing you down,” explains Seva Foods.

According to Seva Foods, the product is a reaction to increasing consumer demand for healthier snack and candy alternatives. In addition, the company has set itself the goal of improving conditions for animals and the environment with its plant products.
