The Dutch Zwanenberg Food Group is one of the leading European manufacturers and wholesalers of meat products, tinned meat, snacks, soups, and sauces. It has several internationally successful brands in its portfolio. The company has now introduced four new vegan products under the well-known Kips brand: vegetarian liver sausage, pâtés, spreadable liver sausage and filet americain.
This is the first vegan range to be launched under the Kips brand. Initially, the products will be sold exclusively at Albert Heijn supermarkets in the final weeks of 2018. The company’s decision to include vegan products in its range is based primarily on changing consumer habits.
Jo-Anne van der Laan, Marketing & Sales Manager at Zwanenberg, said: “We have noted for some time that meat consumption has been decreasing slightly every year. So-called flexitarians are increasingly opting not to consume meat every day. We are responding to this trend by introducing vegan products. So we’re targeting a wider audience, including vegetarians and vegans, because these new Kips products don’t contain animal protein.”
