Beyond Meat Brings Beyond Smash Burger to Tesco Stores UK-Wide

As Veganuary approaches, Beyond Meat is set to launch its Beyond Smash burger at Tesco stores across the UK.

The product has the same taste and texture as the original Beyond Burger, but with a slimmer patty that crisps up when cooked. Containing 16g of protein per 100g serving, the burger is said to be suitable for stacking in a bun or crumbling onto salad. Beyond Smash previously launched at Ocado and is kosher, halal, and vegan-certified.

“We’re delighted to introduce Beyond Smash to Tesco customers as part of Tesco’s commitment to identify and increase tasty plant-based options both in-store and online,” said Molly Hannah, Assistant Buyer – Frozen Plant Based & Vegetarian at Tesco. “With its unbeatable taste and texture, the Beyond Smash is perfect for anyone seeking a satisfying plant-based choice this Veganuary.”

“No sacrifice required”

Beyond Meat has seen significant expansion across the UK in 2024. In March, the Beyond Burger rolled out in the frozen aisle at over 800 Co-op stores, after being named Which’s Best Vegan Burger 2023. Less than three months later, a new product — the Spicy Beyond Burger Jalapeño — launched at retailers across the UK.

In October, Beyond Meat announced a partnership with travel restaurateur SSP Group to launch the Beyond Burger at airport and train station bars across the UK. The burger initially rolled out at 13 locations, and will arrive at six more this month.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Beyond Smash to Tesco stores, making it easier for Beyond Meat fans to enjoy an on-trend plant-based burger, no sacrifice required,” said Lee Crane, Regional Sales Manager Retail UK/Ireland at Beyond Meat. “Whether it’s kicking off Veganuary or supporting a balanced lifestyle, Beyond Smash helps burger lovers smash their goals in January and beyond.”

Beyond Smash will launch at 520 Tesco stores from January 1.
