Beyond Meat has added to its product range in the UK with the launch of three frozen plant-based ready meals at Tesco stores.
The Beyond Meals range consists of:
- Spaghetti Bolognese — Beyond Meat in a tomato and herb sauce with spaghetti.
- Keema Curry & Pilau Rice — Beyond Meat simmered in a sauce made from spices, tomato, and onion, accompanied by spiced pilau rice.
- Chili with Coriander Rice — Beyond Meat combined with black beans and red pepper in a tomato chili sauce, paired with coriander rice.
All three meals can be prepared in under ten minutes and contain at least 14 grams of protein.
“Something for everyone”
Beyond Meat initially applied to register the trademark “Beyond Meals” in the UK last October, leading to speculation that the company was planning to launch plant-based ready meals. Beyond sought two types of trademark — a Class 30, for ready meals with ingredients such as pasta, rice, and noodles, and a Class 29, for meat alternatives.
The brand also previously joined forces with Wicked Kitchen in 2021 to launch a range of ready meals at Tesco. These included the Korean-Inspired Bowl and the Naked Burrito.
The introduction of the new ready meals comes on the heels of Beyond’s plant-based chicken launch in the UK. Three products in the range made their debut last month — chicken-style burgers, fillets, and nuggets.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be launching our incredibly tasty and affordable new range of Beyond Meals in the UK,” said Steve Dalby, Regional Sales Manager UK at Beyond Meat. “With three different flavours to choose from, including plant-based twists on classic comfort foods and global cuisines, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and they’re perfect for those who are always on the go. Plus, our Beyond Meals are completely plant-based so you can eat what you love, no sacrifice required!”
