DuPont to “Enable Transformation of Global Eating Habits” with Plant-Based Solutions

Biotechnology and chemical company DuPont has launched a new brand known as Danisco Planit™. The brand is dedicated to supplying plant-based ingredients and application expertise to be used in the manufacture of sustainable foods and beverages.

With this launch, DuPont aims to offer the widest available selection of ingredients for plant-based product development. This will be coupled with the company’s expert knowledge of product design.

“Danisco Planit™ is a significant launch for us,” said Birgitte Borch, VP of Marketing, Food & Beverage at DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences. “We offer a total ingredient solution with the ability to deliver taste, texture, nutrition, and sustainability.”

The company recognises that huge progress has been made in developing meat and dairy substitutes in recent years. However, it aims to go beyond imitating conventional foods to create truly innovative plant-based options. That way, Borch believes, plant-based foods will “become a regular part of consumers’ diets, not just a ‘try it once’.”

Danisco Planit™ has now been launched globally, providing plant-based ingredients such as plant proteins, cultures, probiotics, fibres, antioxidants, natural extracts, emulsifiers, and enzymes. It also provides the company’s services and expertise, benefitting from its years of experience in the plant-based sector. DuPont’s aim is to support companies through every stage of product development, from conceptualisation to commercialisation.

“We want to support the shift to a more plant-based diet by creating multiple options, thereby enabling nutritious, plant-based food and beverages in every meal, every day,” says Borch. “We look forward to innovating new formats and categories to create great eating experiences for the growing group of global consumers that want to increase their plant-based consumption.”
