Float Foods Launches Asia’s First Plant-Based Poached Egg & Egg Yolk for Food Service 

Singapore’s Float Foods is launching two new plant-based alternatives to eggs — OnlyEg Poached Eg and OnlyEg Eg Yolk — for suppliers, F&B businesses, and distributors worldwide. The brand claims the NPDs are Asia’s first commercially available plant-based poached egg and egg yolk for food service.

Both OnlyEg products will debut at the Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) exhibition at the Singapore Expo from 25-28 April 2023. 

“We are thrilled to introduce OnlyEg Poached Eg and Eg Yolk, which are among the first plant-based whole egg available in Asia, at FHA Singapore,” says Vinita Choolani, Founder and CEO of Float Foods.

Sustainable alternatives

Vinita Choolani founded Float Foods with support from the Temasek Foundation and the Enterprise Singapore Startup Scheme. The plant-based eggs are a sustainable solution to address the environmental impact of egg production, which is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions in the food industry.

“Our mission is to provide sustainable and nutritious food options that are good for the planet and good for the people,” states Choolani. 

Float Foods is known as Singapore’s fastest-selling plant-based egg brand, offering a range of vegan eggs — OnlyEg Shreds, OnlyEg Omelette, OnlyEg Tamagoyaki, and Asia’s first plant-based whole egg — across Singapore’s hospitality and food service industry. Last September, OnlyEg received the Best Plant-Based Functional Award at the Plant Based Expo in New York City.

The brand’s international expansion strategy includes distribution agreements with the UAE’s largest food service distributor, Bidfood Middle East — along with Day Day Cook, Hong Kong’s largest meal kit subscription service, which launched the brand’s eggs on its platform this week. Float Foods has announced other expansion plans for Malaysia, Dubai, and Australia from June 2023.

Revolutionizing the alt egg industry

Developed by Float Foods’ R&D team using proprietary technology, the new products are legume-based, offering a nutritious protein and dietary fiber source. Additionally, they are cholesterol-free, with over 50% less saturated fats than a chicken egg. Both products are suitable for vegans, vegetarians, those with egg allergies, and health-conscious consumers.

OnlyEg Poached Eg offers the food industry an innovative solution that simplifies operations for large chains, hotel breakfast buffets, institutional caterers, and airlines looking to serve plant-based eggs.

OnlyEg Eg Yolk replaces egg yolks as an ingredient, allowing chefs to serve a wider variety of plant-based menu options. 

“We believe that OnlyEg will revolutionize the alternative egg industry and offer a more sustainable and ethical alternative to conventional eggs,” added Choolani.
