Mediterranean Tempeh Joins Better Nature’s Supercharged Protein Range at Ocado

Better Nature has expanded its Supercharged Protein line with the introduction of a new Mediterranean Tempeh block, now available on Ocado. The product, which offers 44 grams of protein per pack, is positioned as a plant-based alternative to chicken, suitable for summer dishes such as salads, pasta, and barbecues.

The Mediterranean Tempeh is designed to provide a firm texture and a high protein content, while also offering additional health benefits such as gut-friendly fibre, prebiotics, and iron. These attributes are a response to growing consumer demand for more nutritious and functional proteins that contribute to overall health, rather than merely serving as a source of protein.

Consumers seeking more than protein

Elin Roberts, co-CEO and co-founder of Better Nature, noted the trend of consumers increasingly opting for proteins that offer more than just protein content, including the growing shift away from traditional animal proteins like chicken in favor of options like beans and tempeh, which offer additional nutritional value. “What people want is more than just protein – they want healthy & nutritious foods they are happy to eat every day,” Roberts explained.

Better Nature’s growing tempeh range

The launch of Mediterranean Tempeh follows the earlier introduction of Better Nature’s updated Organic Tempeh in March 2025, which, along with its Smoky Tempeh, is currently available at major retailers such as Tesco, Asda, and Ocado.

With the Mediterranean Tempeh, Better Nature is targeting meat-eaters seeking healthier protein alternatives, tapping into the growing consumer interest in natural, gut-friendly ingredients. The new product is priced at £3 for a 220g pack and will be available on Ocado starting this month.
