Plant-Based Delivery Service Planty Continues its Success in the UK

Vegan ready meal delivery service Planty launched across the UK in July of this year following a successful trial in London. This month the young startup secured £150,000 in seed funding from Veg Capital. Continuing its success, Planty now partners with Tiba Tempeh as part of a new range of healthy ready meal options.

Planty’s founders state this week of the recent launch: “Eating more plants is no longer a fringe idea, and with more of us giving it a go every year, we’re heading in the right direction.”

Launching this week on the Planty website are three new meals, including a tempeh stir-fry and a butternut & mango madras. The tempeh dish is, according to brand, the first of its kind being a stir-fry made from Tempeh in the UK. The dish contains Tiba Tempeh Sweet chilli tempeh pieces roasted with mixed chop suey noodles, chinese cabbage kimchi, roasted sesame mushrooms, and a sticky kimchi dressing. The new options are available to order as part of the 6, 8 or 10 meal options.

Speaking to vegconomist at the beginning of September, Co-founder and CEO Andrea Cavallo commented, “For consumers, the plant-based market has been absolutely booming in the last few years, with more and more of us wanting to make the switch and eat more plants and less meat and dairy. This, along with the fact that we are all super busy, often too short of time to cook ourselves, make chef-prepared, plant-based ready meals a great solution. There is certainly more choice out there now than there was even a few years ago, but there needs to be even greater choice in order to really make plant-based food a viable option for the masses.”
