California-based Ripple Foods has launched Ripple Shake Ups Protein Shakes, targeting the nutritional needs of tweens. These shakes, available in Chocolotta and Viva Vanilla flavors, offer 13 grams of plant-based pea protein and 3 grams of fiber per serving.
“We understand the challenges parents face with hangry kids”
The product aims to address what the company is calling “tweenage hanger,” a term describing irritability due to hunger in tweens. Ripple Foods notes that the shakes provide a convenient and nutritious option for busy mornings, between classes, and before or after school activities. Shake Ups feature 3 grams of fiber, and 13 essential nutrients, including vitamins B12, D, E, calcium, and iron, and are free from the top 9 allergens.
Laura Flanagan, CEO of Ripple Foods, stated, “We understand the challenges parents face with hangry kids, and Ripple Shake Ups are here to provide a tasty, nutritious solution. Our mission is to create products that offer both great taste and superior nutrition, and Shake Ups are the perfect example of this commitment.”

Rise of plant-based dairy for kids
This new product joins Ripple’s existing range of plant-based milks and protein shakes, including Ripple Kids, which recently expanded to shelf-stable singles and 32-ounce sizes in multiple flavors. The company has also introduced Unsweetened Original Plant-Based Milk and Half & Half to its shelf-stable lineup following an injection of funding, with over $274 million raised to date.
Other plant-based dairy companies are also focusing on the kid market. Califia Farms introduced “Complete Kids” with 8 grams of protein, while Oatly and Little Spoon launched overnight oat smoothies for kids. Nude. and Mãe Terra have introduced oat-based drinks for children in Brazil.
Flanagan continued, “We’re excited to help parents keep their kids satisfied and happy with a protein shake they can feel good about.”
Ripple Shake Ups are now available on Amazon and Ripple Foods’ website.
