Voyage Foods announces the availability of its allergen-friendly peanut-free butter and hazelnut-free spread (self-described as a Nutella dupe) in foodservice-sized tubs on Amazon.
These products are designed to cater to the needs of small foodservice operations, such as restaurants, bakeries, daycare centers, and juice bars, that may struggle to meet minimum order quantities from distributors.
“Our core focus is ensuring our products are easily accessible and reasonably priced”
Voyage Foods’ CEO and founder, Adam Maxwell, explained the strategy behind the new product format: “Offering bulk tubs allows smaller and independent foodservice operators to expand their allergy-friendly and plant-based offerings, diversify their menus, streamline ordering, and bring in and retain new customers. Our core focus is ensuring our products are easily accessible and reasonably priced to reach the broadest possible community.”
Sustainability and accessibility
The company’s products, including the VOYAGE Peanut-Free Roasted Seed Spread and VOYAGE Hazelnut-Free Roasted Seed Spread, are free from the top nine allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, soy, gluten, dairy, egg, fish, and sesame.
These spreads are crafted from upcycled ingredients. The peanut-free spread uses grape seeds left over from other food and beverage processes. The hazelnut-free spread is made without cocoa, nuts, or dairy, instead using roasted sunflower seeds and other natural ingredients to achieve a chocolatey taste.
Partnerships and funding
Earlier this year, Voyage Foods partnered with Cargill, which became the exclusive global B2B distributor of its products. This partnership was part of Cargill’s strategy to future-proof its portfolio and meet consumer demands for sustainable options. Additionally, Voyage Foods secured $52 million in a funding round to scale up production.
“It makes flavors really pop […] and the translatability is second to none”
Executive chef Eli Kirshtein, director of business development for wholesale distributor Inland Foods, praised the quality and versatility of Voyage’s products. “There’s no drop-off in the end product when using it as an ingredient—quite the contrary, it makes flavors really pop. The textures are exactly what I am looking for, and the translatability is second to none. I am continually impressed by Voyage,” she stated.
Voyage Foods’ spreads are now available on Amazon. The Peanut-Free Spread is available in a pack of two five-pound tubs for $59.99, while the Hazelnut-Free Spread is sold in a pack of two six-pound tubs for the same price.
