Willicroft, founded in early 2018 by Brad Vanstone, the grandson of a dairy farmer who was inspired to create plantbased cheese alternatives upon converting to veganism, rolls out its This is not Cheese Fondue, This is not Classic Cream Cheese, and This is not Grated Cheese Italian Style throughout the UK this week.
Brad agrees that for most people transitioning to veganism, cheese is the final stumbling block and often the most difficult food to eliminate, through its omnipresence and actual, scientifically-proven addictiveness. Through his products, he’s aiming to demonstrate that plant-based cheese can be just as decadent as its dairy alternative.
Since successfully founding Willicroft in Amsterdam, securing stockists at all major food retailers across The Netherlands and Belgium, Willicroft products became available this week across the UK where veganism is riding an all-time high and sees no sign of stopping.
“A couple of decades after Willicroft Farm first supplied Waitrose with Aberdeen Angus meat, it’s pretty exciting that Willicroft in its reimagined form is supplying the same store with plant-based cheese,” enthuses Vanstone.
Willicroft Plant-Based Cheeses are available in the UK at the following retailers: Waitrose, The VeganKind, Wholefoods, Planet Organic, As Nature Intended. The Willicroft Store is based in Amsterdam and was the first plant-based cheese shop in the city.
“It’s super humbling that our fondue, cream cheese and Grated cheese Italian style cheese are now available across the UK. We’ve always believed that by focussing on the taste and our environmental footprint in equal measure we would be creating something special and are stoked Waitrose supports us on that mission.”
