Anuga: “We Not Only Follow Market Trends, But Actively and Courageously Co-Shape Them”

Anuga is said to be the world’s largest food and beverage trade fair, held in Cologne every other year. The event consists of ten separate fairs, each covering a different category. For the first time, Anuga 2025 will include Anuga Alternatives, a trade fair dedicated to alternative proteins. A diverse range of products will be exhibited, including plant-based, algae-based, mushroom-based, and cultivated proteins. The event replaces the Anuga Out of Home fair, demonstrating the growing importance of alternative proteins. Its introduction comes after last year’s Anuga Meat and Anuga Taste Innovation Show featured a significant number of plant-based products. Anuga Taste Innovation Show Will Have a Focus on Plant-Based Products

Food and beverage trade fair Anuga will return to Cologne, Germany from October 7-11, under the theme Sustainable Growth. The Anuga Taste Innovation Show will take place at the event, with 68 innovative new products set to be exhibited in the central trend area. According to Anuga, “The focus is on alternative proteins, clean label products as well as products with additional health benefits”. Oat Drink Machine Startup The Oater Closes Seven-Figure Round Led by Soda Stream Exec

Cologne-based Food startup The Oater announces it has closed a seven-figure pre-seed financing round. The Oater’s first product is an oat drink machine for the food service sector, producing fresh barista oat drinks on-site with minimal packaging. Renowned business angels with strong connections to the food and tech sectors contributed to the successful fundraising of the startup’s capital. Notably, Rüdiger Koppelmann, General Manager of SodaStream, was the main investor in this round. In addition to securing financing through this funding round, the startup also obtained significant six-figure grants. Aramark Opens Germany’s First Vegan Trade Fair Restaurant

Food service provider Aramark announces the opening of Germany’s first purely vegan trade fair restaurant, located at the trade fair grounds in Cologne, as part of the company’s sustainability strategy which aims to reduce meat consumption in all business areas by 30% by 2030. US-based Aramark last November introduced a new range of plant-forward meals into all 500 German corporate restaurants that it operates, including dishes such as Vegetable Noodles with Caramelized Carrot Pumpkin, and Parsley Foam; Baked Kohlrabi with Buckwheat, Spinach, and Smoked Tofu; and Lentil Risotto with Root Vegetables, Gremolata and Walnut Crunch. Koelnmesse: Jan Philipp Hartmann Takes Over as Director of Anuga

Cologne‘s famous trade fair space and exhibition centre, Koelnmesse announces that Jan Philipp Hartmann is to take over the position of Director of Anuga at Koelnmesse from 1st April. He will be directly responsible for the management and development of the world’s leading food trade fair. He succeeds Stefanie Mauritz, who took over the role in December 2019. Hartmann, who has been working for Koelnmesse since 2016, has several years of experience as Sales Manager Exhibitors of the confectionery trade fair ISM Middle East as well as ISM. With his international experience and sales strength, he has been able to further advance the development of ISM Middle East as Director since mid-2019 and, among other things, very successfully accompanied its rebranding from Yummex to ISM. …

Vegan Junk Food Bar Enters Germany With Largest Ever Store

On September 1, Dutch chain Vegan Junk Food Bar will open its first German location in the city of Cologne. The 222-seat restaurant will be the chain’s largest to date. For the most part, the menu will be the same as other Vegan Junk Food Bar locations, which serve dishes such as burgers, vegan seafood, and plant-based ribs. However, a new dish — Loaded Fries with Bratwurst — has been introduced especially for the German market. German Cities Emerge as Surprise Vegan Dating Hotspots in 2022 Global Ranking

Veggly, the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians, has released new data ranking the best cities in the world for vegan dating, revealing that two German cities have this year overtaken London to become the biggest vegan dating hotspots. Overall, Europe takes the top five spots, however the US still represents the highest number of vegan daters overall of any individual country.
