Munich-based Sunbloom Proteins announces a strategic partnership with IMCD Group, a global distributor of chemicals and ingredients, to distribute its plant-based functional proteins derived from sunflower seeds in Europe’s Nordic region. Sunbloom Proteins manufactures its products, including a sunflower oil, in Hungary, utilizing sunflower seeds for human consumption. The company has developed a patented process to create 60% protein content sunflower-derived seed ingredients to serve as functional ingredients in food and beverage applications, including dairy and meat alternatives, bakery, confectionery, and wellness products. GREENFORCE Launches Vegan Meatloaf Made From Pulses

Munich-based foodtech startup GREENFORCE presents a vegan Leberkäse (a German meatloaf traditionally made from beef, pork, and bacon), based on pea and field bean protein, following its sales hit with vegan Weißwurst for Oktoberfest 2022. According to the company, the alternative product not only looks like the animal-based original, but also comes remarkably close in taste and consistency. National soccer player and Greenforce brand ambassador Thomas Müller, who invested in GREENFORCE in April 2022, commented on the launch: “Influenced by Bavarian food culture, I naturally grew up with a treat like Leberkäse. Vegan Fast Food Chain Swing Kitchen Opens First of Four New German Locations in Munich

Austria-based fast food chain Swing Kitchen has continued its expansion into Germany with the opening of a new location in Munich. The 175-square-metre site has space for 40 guests and is located in Maxvorstadt, often said to be the cultural centre of the city. It has Swing Kitchen’s signature aesthetic, based on the swing era of the 1930s and 40s. The menu features a range of burgers, including the Swing Burger, Chili Burger, and Cheese Burger. A selection of wraps and salads is also available, along with sides such as fries, nuggets, and onion rings. For dessert, customers can choose from cheesecake, tiramisu, and more. Vegan Versions of Classic Dishes to Be Offered at Oktoberfest 2022

A significant shift is set to take place at Oktoberfest 2022, as several vegan options are added to menus for what may be the first time in the event’s history. The Munich-based beer festival is known for its meat-heavy dishes, with 435,000 chickens and 124 oxen said to be consumed each year. But change is coming — the Ochsenbraterei, a venue best known for publicly grilling oxen on a rotisserie, has hired chef Sebastian Copien to develop vegan options. German climate-neutral company GREENFORCE has raised €15 million in an equity round to accelerate growth, international expansion and the continued expansion of its research and development centre in Munich.
