The Beyond Burger will be available exclusively at Lidl Germany in calendar week 22, starting May 29. However, it is only a promotional product. Accordingly, the offer is only valid while stocks last. One package (227 grams) with two patties will cost EUR 4.99.
In Germany the Beyond Burger is already available at Metro. With Lidl’s offer, end-consumers can now also buy the vegetable burger from Beyond Meat for the first time in Germany in food retail. “We are keeping a very close eye on food trends and innovations and are delighted to be the first food retailer in Germany to be able to offer our customers the popular Beyond Meat Burger,” says Jan Bock, General Manager at Lidl Deutschland.
The supplier to Lidl for the Beyond Burger will be Allfein Feinkost.
In the USA, stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates and ex-McDonald’s CEO Don Thompson have already invested in Beyond Meat. The company recently went public and gained a record growth of 163 % on the first day, making what was reportedly the most successful first day of trading in two decades.
In addition to Kaufland, Lidl also belongs to the Schwarz Group. They recently announced for the first to have surpassed the EUR 100 billion mark in revenue in 2018. Together, the two companies generated EUR 37 billion in revenue in Germany, a growth in sales of 5.1 percent.
