Vegandukan Launches Six Plant-Based Traditional Indian Curries

India-based online marketplace Vegandukan has launched plant-based and ready-to-eat versions of six traditional Indian curries.

They are:

  • Tofu Lababdar — A rich base of gravy with Indian spices. Tofu is used instead of paneer (Indian cottage cheese).
  • Dal Mahkani — A blend of dried split pulses, kidney beans, and vegan butter.
  • Moong Dal Halwa — A sweet curry with split mung beans, cashews, almonds, and raisins.
  • Palak Saag Chik’n — Plant-based chicken with spinach in a thick, flavourful gravy.
  • Soya Chaap Tawa Masala — A protein-rich gravy with soy chunks.
  • Vegan Rara Chick’n — Plant-based chicken pieces in an aromatic gravy.

Vegandukan

Vegandukan was founded in 2019 by Sagar N Mehta, a vegan of eight years who noticed that there was no marketplace to bring plant-based Indian products together. Earlier this year, the platform raised $325,000 in a seed funding round, saying it intends to use the capital to improve user experience and increase choice.

“Being a vegan, I realize how much an Indian vegan struggles to get hold of reliable vegan products,” said Sagar in a statement. “Many Indians have started going vegan and vouching for a cruelty-free lifestyle. However, they find it difficult because vegan products are still pretty much inaccessible to many parts of India. So, we created Vegandukan to make vegan products available to the Indian population. This month, we are launching eight new products to cater to the needs of our customers. We are also planning to open the doors of our Delhi delivery centre to make our services better.”
