Met Gala 2024 Showcases Plant-Based Dishes Featuring Impossible Foods, Neat, and Stockeld Dreamery

The 2024 Met Gala, held on Monday in New York City at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, continued its tradition of blending high fashion with high cuisine under the theme “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion.”

This year, the event’s menu was designed by caterer Olivier Cheng, who aimed to create a selection of dishes that echoed the enchanting and romantic elements of a classic children’s storybook.

“For our category, many people have been burnt by poor vegan cheese experiences and anything we can do to challenge that perception has tremendous value”

While the gala’s dinner menu featured an omnivorous section of dishes, the spotlight on plant-based offerings shone brightest at the afterparty held at Casa Cipriani. Here, attendees were treated to plant-based selections from Neat (previously Neat Burger), which included cheeseburgers featuring Stockeld Dreamery’s Cultured Cheddar, and TiNDLE Chick’n burgers and fingers.

The afterparty, which continued until the early hours of 5 a.m., was attended by high-profile celebrities from the music industry, including Doja Cat, Sam Smith, Cardi B, and Usher. Notably, vegan Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and New York Mayor Eric Adams, who is also a plant-based advocate, were among the guests.

“We served food to an endless list of megastars such as Leo DiCaprio, Usher, Sza, Lil Nas X, and Serena Williams. For our category, many people have been burnt by poor vegan cheese experiences and anything we can do to challenge that perception has tremendous value. We had a blast serving food to this crowd late at night,” Sorosh Tavakoli, founder and CEO of Stockeld Dreamery, said to vegconomist.

Tavakoli shared on social media, “When our good friends and customers at Neat gave us a call […] the answer was YES! A few days later, we found ourselves at Casa Cipriani handing out cheeseburgers […] to some of the most influential people of our time.”

In addition to the afterparty’s offerings, the pre-show event at The Mark Hotel also featured Impossible sliders with truffle aioli and passionfruit BBQ Impossible chicken nuggets. The company also aired commercials from its new marketing campaign during the Red Carpet broadcast on E! News.
