The “Green Garden Bakery” in the Heritage Park in North Minneapolis is a project by the young “Teenage Vegan Bakers”, who are implementing their vegan business idea in their home town. They have been offering plant-based desserts and baked goods for some time now, and are so successful that they have been able to attract a considerable amount of investment to further expand their business.
The project started a few years ago, with little funding, and is now booming. The plant-based products on the extensive vegan menu met with great interest from the local population from the beginning. Leensa Ahmed, the 17-year-old project manager, says: “We use vegetables from our gardens for our products, everything is local. We’d like to share our desserts with the whole nation in grocery stores and cafés.”
The founders and members of the vegan bakery are surprised by their huge success. They were able to raise $150,000 in support capital incredibly quickly to further develop their business concept. Now, they “only” need about 11,000 US dollars in order to buy a new dream kitchen and a mobile sales stand. For this reason, Green Garden Bakery is very confident that it will soon be able to scale up and significantly expand its business model.
