Plant-based protein company, Emergy Foods, opened its new headquarters this week in Boulder, Colorado. The opening coincides with the recent announcement of its closing of $4.8 million in venture capital financing.
Congruent Ventures led the recently closed funding that also included Prelude Ventures, Better Ventures, 50 years, New Crop Capital, The March Fund I LP, Trust Ventures, Bluestein & Associates, and others. The company also received additional grant funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory, and Chain Reaction Innovation for a total of $1.3 million, as reported by the Boulder Daily Camera.
Emergy Foods provides sustainable, plant-based meats that mimic the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of animal-derived meat while delivering the nutrition profile and fiber content of vegetables. The new headquarters feature full production, laboratory, and kitchen capabilities for manufacturing.
“Being a good corporate neighbor is at the heart of Emergy, and we look forward to establishing strong relationships within the Boulder community,” Tyler Huggins, CEO of Emergy Foods, stated in a news release. “We can’t think of a place that is more closely aligned with our corporate culture of healthy living and environmental stewardship.”
