(Non) Dairy Queen – The First Vegan Dilly Bar Launches in Texas, Vegas & New York

North American fast food and ice cream chain Dairy Queen has announced on social media that it will soon be launching a vegan version of their classic Dilly Bars. This follows a campaign from PETA and coincides with the escalation of young people seeking vegan alternatives for their favorite foods.

The new product is a coconut milk-based ice cream cased in vegan chocolate. Currently, two stores in Louisianna have the bars in stock while participating locations in Houston, TX; Bloomington, MN; Las Vegas NV; and New York, NY expect to offer them soon. Customers are encouraged to call their local Dairy Queen to request that it carries the non-dairy Dilly Bar.

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman welcomes the news: “After years of offering treats made with cruelly obtained cow’s milk, Dairy Queen is finally embracing a delicious dairy-free dessert. PETA thanks the company for adding this vegan option and looks forward to seeing it hit the spot with kind customers.”
