Katjesgreenfood has announced the first palm oil free US nut butter company, Wild Friends, as latest addition to their portfolio.
Katjesgreenfood GmbH & Co. KG, the first food impact investor in the fast-growing market for sustainable food in Europe, co-invests in US start-up Wild Friends. Wild Friends is the first US brand to offer healthy and sustainable palm oil free nut butter. With varieties such as Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter, Vanilla Espresso Almond Butter and Oat and Nut Butter Cups, the start-up is bringing new momentum to the conventional nut butter range.
The spreads are based on peanuts, sunflower seeds and almonds and are palm oil free as well as GMO-free, contain no added sugar, preservatives or artificial flavourings. Wild Friends’ range is already available in over 8000 retail stores in the US and Canada, as well as via the online shop. The company is a “Certified B Corporation”, donating 1 % of its net earnings to non-profit initiatives supporting women and girls.
The investment in Wild Friends strengthens the role of Katjesgreenfood as a pioneer in the market for sustainable, plant-based foods and underlines the focus on strong, visionary brands. Wild Friends founders Keeley Tillotson and Erika Welch commented: “With Katjesgreenfood we have a strong and experienced partner by our side. This allows us to advance our goal of supporting ethical and environmentally-friendly consumption and to expand our range with new, tasty flavours that are out of the ordinary.”
