UK pub company Stonegate have announced that they will launch a new vegan menu across their 46 student pub venues across the country.
The student venues, in-keeping with their claim of following the latest trends in food and drink are now offering customers ‘A greater choice of on-trend and vegan dishes’. The new plant-based menu includes: Jackfruit Bao Buns, a Vegan Burger, Macaroni Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Black Bean and Butternut Squash Quinoa Chilli with Spicy Rice, and Avocado Fries.
Vegans are undoubtedly a large section of the student population and are being taken increasingly seriously by universities and service providers. In 2016, students at the University of Birmingham fought to increase the plant-based options available, and in the same year one single student successfully petitioned the university of Manchester in order to change their menu. As times are changing it is encouraging to see that young people are at the forefront of change for food.
