Research Says 19% of Brits Are Eating More Plant-Based Foods to Cut Grocery Bills

A report by Myvegan has found that almost a fifth (19%) of Brits are eating more plant-based foods to reduce their grocery bills. 4% have adopted an entirely meat-free lifestyle as a result of rising costs, while 6% have cut out all meat except fish. Vegans and pescetarians were found to spend the least on food per month, both averaging around £203 compared to £238.29 for omnivores. However, sustainable shopping habits have taken a hit due to the rising cost of living, with 49% of respondents saying they are now finding it harder to shop sustainably. The UK’s Protein Transition in Four Graphs

Per capita total meat consumption decreased 17% in the 10 years to 2019 According to figures published in the Lancet, average UK meat consumption fell from 104g/day in 2008-2009 to just 86g/day in 2018-2019. 2. Vegan Society Study Reveals 95% of Brits Want More Vegan Fashion

A new study by the Vegan Society called The Rise of Vegan Fashion reveals that British consumers would like to buy more vegan-verified fashion. The global market for women’s vegan fashion is estimated at £289 billion in 2019, with forecasts indicating that sales will reach £799 billion in 2027. The study includes a survey showing that 95 percent of respondents would like to see more vegan-certified fashion, suggesting that there is a market for such products among non-vegans and non-vegetarians.
