Mind Blown by The Plant Based Seafood Co. and PLNT Burger have announced the introduction of ‘The Happy Crabby’ Sandwich ahead of World Ocean Month, bringing the plant-based crab cake back to PLNT Burger menus following its limited-time success last year in the DMV area. Starting today, the ‘Happy Crabby’ Sandwich will be available at all PLNT Burger locations across New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Philippines’ WTH Foods to Launch New Microalgae-Based Seafood Overseas

WTH Foods, a food tech startup based in the Philippines, has expanded into the plant-based seafood category with new frozen microalgae-based products enriched with Omega-3. The company, which already introduced its NPDs in the country, has plans to launch its vegan seafood products — crab cakes and plant-based tuna —  in Europe and South East Asia, reported Food Navigator ASIA. WTH Foods claims its new products use microalgae biomass to deliver seafood flavor and provide DHA and Omega-3. They are said to be clean-label, with microalgae and oil as the main ingredients, 100% fishless, without heavy metals or microplastic. PLNT Showcases Vegan Crab Cakes That “Smell and Taste Like Real Thing” at Gulfood

Dutch plant-based meat and seafood producer PLNT, part of the Future Food Group, is showcasing a vegan crabcake product at Gulfood, the world’s largest food exhibition, which says this year the event is 30 times larger than the previous year with over 5,000 exhibitors. The crabcakes are based on wheat protein along with spices and enhancers such as nori for a seafood flavour and “smell and taste like the real thing”, according to Khaleej Times.
