OGGS Launches Mega Caramel Cupcakes With New “Cruelty Free Cakes” Messaging

UK plant-based bakery brand OGGS has launched a new product, Mega Caramel Cupcakes, as it previews updated packaging with the message “Cruelty Free Cakes”. The cupcakes consist of large vanilla sponges with caramel frosting, made using OGGS aquafaba instead of eggs. They are available at Sainsbury’s Local and Asda. OGGS previously launched the similar Mega Caramel and Vanilla Cupcakes in a pack of nine last year. The new “Cruelty Free Cakes” messaging follows the results of research commissioned by OGGS in 2023, which looked at the ethics of cakes available in the UK. OGGS Launches Vegan Mega Cupcakes as Study Finds Most Brands Use Non-Free-Range Eggs

Plant-based bakery brand OGGS has launched a new product, caramel and vanilla Mega Cupcakes, after commissioning research into the types of eggs most commonly used in bakery products. The study, carried out by the Hen Welfare Trust, shows that major brands such as Mr. Kipling, Cadbury’s, and McVities mostly use eggs from barn-raised or sometimes even caged chickens. While 92% of consumers say they buy free-range shell eggs, 67% were not aware that most eggs used in baked goods are not free-range. When informed of this, 89% said they would be more likely to choose different bakery products in future. OGGS’ baked goods are entirely plant-based, using aquafaba as an egg alternative. OGGS Launches Convenience Packs of Vegan Mini Cupcakes at Tesco Express

British plant-based bakery brand OGGS has launched new, smaller packs of its vegan mini cupcakes at 200 Tesco Express stores nationwide. The products were previously only sold in packs of nine, but the new trays contain six cupcakes to make them more conveniently sized. Available in vanilla and chocolate flavours, the treats are made with aquafaba instead of eggs, with each one coming in at under 100 calories. They are packaged in 100% recycled plastic.
