A report by British think tank Chatham House has found that plant-based diets are the best way to protect biodiversity. Titled Food System Impacts on Biodiversity Loss, the report says agriculture is a threat to most species currently at risk of extinction.

A new study conducted by the University of Oxford has found that a switch towards plant-based diets is vital to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. It follows on from a previous study by the university, which found that eating a vegan diet could reduce our carbon footprint by 73%.

According to a new study published by ScienceDaily, eating a vegan diet could be much more environmentally friendly than consuming local products. With regards to eating habits in the European Union, meat and dairy products are responsible for the “lion’s share” of greenhouse gas emissions, the report says.

Beyond Meat has recently published a Life Cycle Assessment report comparing the environmental impact of the vegan Beyond Burger with its beef counterpart. A team of researchers from the Center for Sustainable Resources at the University of Michigan found that the Beyond Burger has a significantly lower environmental impact than a traditional beef burger.
