Ingredion to Showcase Vegan Coronation Chicken at PBWE London Next Week

Global Ingredients giant Ingredion is set to showcase its latest plant-based prototypes at Plant Based World Expo 2022 next week from 30 November to 1 December, alongside KaTech Ingredient Solutions, which the company acquired last year. The prototypes will available for attendees to sample on-stand, with the hero product being a plant-based coronation chicken filler with plant-based mayonnaise, created with Ingredion’s VITESSENCE® Pulse range of proteins, with a base of pea protein and fava beans, also commonly known as faba or broad beans, an ingredient that has been trending in plant proteins over recent years. BENEO Invests €50M in New Fava Bean Processing Plant in Germany

Leading functional ingredients producer BENEO has announced it will be opening a new fava bean processing plant in Offstein, Germany. The facility will process the beans — and potentially other pulses at a later date — into protein concentrate, flour, and hulls. Companies will be able to use the fava-derived ingredients to improve the protein content and texture of meat and dairy alternatives, as well as to produce gluten-free bakery and cereal products. Costing €50 million, the new site will help BENEO strengthen its portfolio and meet the growing demand for plant-based proteins. NUTRIS Opens “Europe’s First Fava Bean Protein Facility” in Croatia

NUTRIS Group has opened what it claims is the first factory in Europe for the production of fava bean protein isolate. Located in Novi Senkovac, Croatia, the facility will also be able to produce potato-based ingredients. In conjunction with Denmark’s SiccaDania, NUTRIS has invested €30 million in the new site. The technology used at the facility was developed by the University of Copenhagen over a ten-year period, and has been further improved by the two companies. Ultimately, NUTRIS plans for the site to be part of a state-of-the-art agro-industrial hub called NUTRIS.park™, which should be operational by 2030. Bunge Limited Invests AU$45.7M in Faba Bean Specialist Australian Plant Proteins

Global agri-food company Bunge Limited recently announced a new AU$45.7 million investment in Australian Plant Proteins (APP), which works in the extraction of protein from the faba bean, also known as the broad bean. This strategic investment is designed to support the growth of the plant-based market in Australia and enable APP to double its production of plant protein isolates by March 2022.
