US food manufacturer, Conagra Brands, has announced it will distribute the popular plant-based brand Gardein, throughout the UK in Sainsbury’s stores from next year. Gardein (garden protein) is a product line of meat-free frozen foods such as plant-based fish fillets, and chicken strips, which are produced in British Columbia, Canada.
Plant-Based Frozen Products Become Increasingly Popular in 2018
The market for frozen products in Germany has once again recorded rising sales figures in 2018, benefiting from current consumer trends. According to a forecast by the German Frozen Food Institute e.V. (dti), sales of frozen products will grow by 0.5 percent in 2018. The annual per capita consumption of frozen products in Germany could thus rise from 46.3 kilograms (2017) to 46.5 kilograms (2018).

Australia: Supermarket Chain Coles Launches its Own Vegan Frozen Foods
It is not just in Europe and the USA that veganism is very much in vogue. The market Down Under is also becoming increasingly promising for companies. For example, there is already a high demand for Vivera’s vegan steaks. Subway has added a vegan sandwich to its range in Australia, and now the supermarket chain Coles is following suit with its own vegan frozen food. The Australian retailer has added a new range of vegan frozen ready meals to its range. The new product line includes gluten-free vegetable chili and penang curry as well as vegetable gyozas, which resemble pasta pockets.
