Smashing Plates Launches Plant-Based Kofta Wrap in Collaboration With Symplicity

London-based Greek-style chain Smashing Plates has announced it is collaborating with Symplicity Foods to launch a plant-based kofta wrap. The new menu item features Symplicity’s natural vegetable-based meat alternatives in Smashing Plates’ signature doughy wrap. It is served with salad, fries, and the chain’s new yellow sauce. The kofta wrap is now available at all four Smashing Plates locations — London Bridge, Tooting, Canary Wharf, and Wembley. About Symplicity Symplicity Foods was founded by Neil Rankin, a trained butcher who became concerned about the impact of animal agriculture on the environment. Disliking processed meat alternatives, he began making his own out of mushrooms, beetroot, and onions. The Real Greek Launches Plant-Based Meze Menu for Veganuary

The Real Greek, which describes itself as the UK’s only authentic Greek restaurant chain, has launched a new plant-based menu for Veganuary. Throughout this month, customers will be able to enjoy a set menu with a choice of vegan meze options, at an affordable price of £9.95 per person for four dishes. The menu is as follows: Starter Greek flatbread or crudités. Cold Plate Santorini fava (mashed yellow split peas), houmous, melitzanosalata (aubergine dip), or beetroot and lentil salad. Hot Meze Grilled aubergine, vegan meatballs, gigandes (giant beans) with spinach, dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), chickpea filo triangles, falafel, jackfruit stifado (casserole), or briam (mixed roasted vegetables).
