Barcelona’s UOBO, a food tech startup on a mission to revolutionize food manufacturing with alternatives to eggs, has raised €500,000 in a seed funding round led by Enzo Ventures. The new funding will be used to develop new products and expand operations. This January, the startup launched liquid plant-based eggs for food service, which have garnered impressive feedback. Awevo Foods, (huevo being the Spanish word for egg, so pronunciation here being a-huevo) a Spanish plant-based egg startup based in Madrid, has launched its first product for the food service & hospitality sector (canal HORECA) and retail: Awevo liquid eggs in 400 and 1000 ml formats. Awevo’s plant-based eggs are said to be indistinguishable from conventional eggs, providing the same taste, texture, and appearance as their animal counterparts. Made primarily from potato protein, they contain neither cholesterol nor saturated fats. Barcelona-based startup UOBO has launched liquid plant-based eggs for food service in a 1-litre bottled format for the Spanish market. The startup says that it has garnered impressive results since its launch on social media platforms, with its first post receiving over 250,000 views in less than 24 hours. In addition, UOBO claims to have already received over 40 requests from interested restaurants, caterers, and distributors. The company’s 100% vegetable whole-eggs are said to adapt seamlessly to traditional recipes while offering great taste. Perfeggt Brings Liquid Egg Alternative to DACH Food Service

Berlin-based foodtech company Perfeggt is launching sales of its plant-based liquid egg alternative for catering and food service in the DACH region. The pea-based egg substitute, which can be used like a whisked hen’s egg, will be distributed via retail partner The Pool Chefs Companion as well as Perfeggt directly.
