Waitrose Becomes First UK Supermarket to List Juicy Marbles, Stocks the Filet Mignon in Butcher Section

Whole cut vegan steak producer Juicy Marbles launches at Waitrose, marking the first UK supermarket to sell the 100% plant-based filet mignon. The brand’s famous marbled vegan steaks — placed alongside conventional animal meat in the butcher section — are part of the supermarket’s Valentine’s Day Meal Deal, offering two Juicy Marbles steaks, a starter, a dessert, and a bottle of fine wine for £20. Beyond Meat Launches “Revolutionary” Plant-Based Beyond Steak

Beyond Meat has announced the launch of its plant-based Beyond Steak, described as “revolutionary”, across the US. The bite-size meatless steak pieces will launch at Kroger and Walmart stores US-wide, along with other retailers including some Albertsons and Ahold locations. Impossible Food’s Pat Brown Reveals Company is Now Working on Filet Mignon

Impossible Foods founder and ex-CEO Pat Brown says the company is currently working on developing plant-based filet mignon, and has already completed a number of successful prototypes. Though Brown couldn’t reveal a release date, he hinted the new steak is forthcoming during the MIT Technology Review’s ClimateTech conference on Oct. 12th.  According to Brown, he sampled multiple steak prototypes earlier this year. “I’ve tasted our filet mignon prototypes—and they’re pretty damn good,” Brown told MIT Technology Review editor James Temple. Noting the primary challenge was perfecting the texture, Brown said the company had to re-work its process for making ground beef to replicate the more difficult structure of steak. Adamo Foods Raises $620K For Ultra-Realistic Steaks Made From Fungi

UK-based food tech company Adamo Foods has secured $620,000 to further develop its meat-free steaks made from fungi. The new funding comes from three separate organisations. The first is the UK government’s research and innovation department, Innovate UK, which awarded Adamo one of its highly competitive Smart Grants. Adamo then went on to receive investment from venture capital fund Beeches Group. Finally, the company received further funding after being selected as the winner of the SHAKE Climate Change 2022 competition, which aims to support sustainable food innovations.
