Alaska Airlines Expands Vegan Meal Options with JUST Egg Frittata, Chili and More

Alaska Airlines, America’s fifth-largest air carrier, announces it is adding a larger variety of plant-based meal options to its First Class menus, including a JUST Egg Frittata, Tofu Wrap, and White Bean Chili, along with a new salad.  Available through pre-order, the new menu selections are available on all First Class meal service flights and include:  A Harissa and Chorizo Frittata made with JUST Egg Spicy Tofu Wrap White Bean Chili with Grilled Polenta Stand Bahn Mi Salad w/ Tofu In addition to the latest offerings, Alaska also introduced several other fully plant-based options last year: The “Soy Meets World” Salad and Healthy Resolutions Vegan Salad, both developed in partnership with Evergreen.  Beyond salad Across the world, more airlines are increasingly expanding vegan meal options …

Japan Airlines Now Offering BettaF!sh Plant-Based Tuna on Select Flights

German alt-seafood brand BettaF!sh announces its plant-based tuna will now be served aboard Japan’s second-largest airline company, Japan Airlines. Available for business and first class passengers, the TU-NAH Sandwich Wrap will be offered on flights from Tokyo to London.  Featuring BettaF!sh’s TU-NAH Creamy, the new sandwich wrap offers passengers a sustainable alternative to nostalgic tuna mayo. Great Wrap Develops Compostable Cling Wrap Made From Potato Waste

Australian materials science company Great Wrap has used potato waste to develop home compostable cling wrap. The company was founded by husband and wife team Jordy and Julia Kay, who set out to disrupt reliance on petroleum-based plastics. They found a way to divert potato waste from landfill and create a wrap that breaks down into carbon and water in under 180 days. Last month, Great Wrap raised $24 million in its Series A funding round, with investors including Groundswell Ventures, Springbank Collective, and Trail Mix Ventures. This will allow the company to set up a biorefinery with the capacity to manufacture 30,000 tons of wrap by the end of next year. Quorn Eliminates Non-Recyclable Packaging Material

Quorn Foods, the leading meat substitute brand in the UK, will phase out 297 tonnes of non-recyclable packaging by the end of July. By 2025, the company plans to use 100% recyclable, reusable and sustainable materials, replacing black plastic containers with opaque white recyclable plastics. The company sells meatless nuggets, sausages, burgers and more worldwide. The black plastics were previously used for products such as “Quorn Mince” and “Pieces”.
