Plan(e)t Foods Raises €400K For “World’s First” Vegan & Carbon Negative Ice Cream

Plan(e)t Foods, which claims firstly to be the first vegan startup ever launched in Greece, and secondly to have developed the world’s first vegan and carbon-negative ice cream, has raised €400K in its first funding round led by Greek angel investors.  Founded in 2021 by Greg Bograkos, Plan(e)t Foods’ portfolio is currently available in more than 500 outlets across Greece. “In under 18 months of operations, we are already distributing our plant-based – and indistinguishable from dairy – ice cream through all major supermarket chains in Greece, currently available in 500+ stores,” says Bograkos. Unilever Partners With ENOUGH to Provide Zero Waste Mycoprotein for The Vegetarian Butcher

Unilever has announced that it will partner with food-tech company ENOUGH (formerly 3F BIO) to bring new plant-based meat products to market through its brand The Vegetarian Butcher, suppliers of plant-based products to Burger King. Unilever also commented to vegconomist that, in addition to plant-based meat innovation, the company is also working to further develop its plant-based ice cream and mayonnaise portfolio. ENOUGH’s technology uses a unique zero-waste fermentation process to grow a high-quality protein. Natural fungi are fed with renewable feedstock, such as wheat and corn. Amy’s Kitchen Opens 389,000 Square Foot Facility, Creates 680 New York Jobs

The organic food company, Amy’s Kitchen, recently broke ground on the construction of its first food production facility in the Hudson Valley, Upstate New York. This $95 million facility will create 680 jobs in the town of Goshen, located in Orange County. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2021.

Just FaB: Double-Decker as Vegan Restaurant

Vegan events are commonplace in London, for example, the event “The Foodservice Forum 2018”, during which veganism was one of the main themes. In August, the first zero-waste market and the first vegan fashion show also took place in England’s capital. But another unusual vegan location is now calling the city home; a double-decker London bus which has been converted into a vegan restaurant. Just FaB brings Italian food to the streets of London. The founder is Fabio Pironti, who, together with his mother, Myrna Panascia, sells Sicilian street food. They started out selling at festivals, but since September 2015, the restaurant bus has been established in London’s Hackney district.
