Dutch-based international meat dealer Zandbergen World’s Finest Meat has recently confirmed its cooperation with the well-known American start-up, Beyond Meat®. Zandbergen will in future distribute the popular ‘Beyond Burger®’ and other branded products exclusively for the European market.
As one of Europe’s largest meat importers and a producer of high-quality meat products, Zandbergen is now looking forward to working with the industry’s most successful newcomer in the US. “As a family business, we always think about the long-term relationship we want to build with our customers. If we want to maintain our leading role in the meat industry, we have to adapt to the changing consumption behavior of consumers,” explained Joris Zandbergen. “In the future, we see ourselves as a supplier who meets the different protein needs of our customers and isn’t just a meat supplier.”
Beyond Meat is widely regarded as a leader in plant-based meat alternative products and is now expanding into Europe after explosive growth in the US market. Beyond Meat CEO and founder Ethan Brown commented, “The European market is a significant opportunity for Beyond Meat and we are excited to partner with one of Europe’s leading meat traders to enter the market.” Beyond Meat’s product range is already available in more than 27,000 grocery stores and restaurants in the US, Hong Kong and Australia.
From July, Zandbergen will offer the Beyond Burger to foodservice customers across Europe, with the exception of Germany and the United Kingdom. In Germany, Beyond Meat is already working exclusively with the PHW group, as vegconomist has already reported.
