Mondelēz International Takes Minority Investment in Startup Uplift Food

Mondelēz International Inc., is an American multinational confectionery, food, and beverage company based in Illinois, USA. The company is rooted in the National Dairy Products Corporation (National Dairy), which was founded in 1923, and today has Cadbury and Kraft amongst its brand, and well known products such as Oreo.

Uplift Food is an early stage start-up focused on prebiotic functional foods. The minority investment sum has not been disclosed at this stage. This is the first venture investment that Mondelēz is making as part of SnackFutures, which is the brand´s new innovation hub. “SnackFutures will capitalize on new trends and mobilize entrepreneurial talent and technologies to build and grow small brands with large-scale potential, and leverage other growth opportunities across snacking.

The New York-based company offers one product so far: Gut Happy Vanilla Daily Uplifter. The dietary supplement powder is made with pumpkin seed protein, probiotics, prebiotic fibre, is vegan, paleo, gluten-free and dairy-free , and can be added to smoothies, protein bars, oatmeal, muffins, and pancakes.
