Heura Foods, Spain’s leading plant-based food innovation company, has called on the Spanish Congress of Deputies to take a proactive and urgent role in addressing the climate emergency affecting Spain and the world.
In response to recent environmental disasters, such as the devastating floods in Valencia, and the alarming advance of global warming that could exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, Heura urges legislators to prioritise sustainability and global health on the political agenda, leaving partisan interests aside.
“…we call on Congress to assume its responsibility and be the lighthouse that guides society towards a fairer and more sustainable future”
“Heura understands that this challenge has no political colour and requires the unity and commitment of all forces in Congress. Therefore, we call on the people’s representatives to prioritise sustainability and global health over political interests. The climate emergency can wait no longer and urgent action is imperative,” says Marc Coloma, co-founder and CEO of Heura Foods.
“At Heura, we are committed to the adoption of responsible and sustainable habits. We are committed to adopting responsible and sustainable habits, but we know that real change needs political leadership. That is why we call on Congress to assume its responsibility and be the lighthouse that guides society towards a fairer and more sustainable future,” he said.

Don’t turn the page
As part of the initiative, Heura has launched an awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Don’t turn the page’, spreading a clear message through the media and social networks. The company invites society to actively participate by sending direct requests to parliamentary representatives to adopt effective policies against climate change and in favour of animal and human health.
In addition, Heura has set up a social media channel that allows citizens to contact parliamentary groups directly. “The climate emergency requires concrete and rapid action, and at Heura we want to be a bridge between society and decision-makers,” explained Bernat Añaños, co-founder and communications director of the company.
“It is time to transform this crisis into an opportunity for real change”
In solidarity with the communities affected by the recent Dana storms in Valencia, Heura has offered its products to local food distribution initiatives to ensure access to vegetable protein for those who need it most. Heura also stresses that this climate crisis is an opportunity to unite efforts between the public, private and social sectors.
“History will judge us by our decisions. It is time to transform this crisis into an opportunity for real change,” concludes Añaños.
