Te Protejo, an organization working to end the use of animal testing in the Latin American cosmetics industry, has launched a competition aiming to increase the presence of cruelty-free products in the region.
The contest is taking place for the second consecutive year and will allow four cosmetic brands to access Te Protejo’s certification process completely free of charge, along with other benefits. The call is open to brands from 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a special focus on Chile, Brazil, and Mexico.
All companies in the cosmetics, household cleaning, and pet care industries are invited to apply. If successful, they could join the more than 180 brands that have been certified by Te Protejo.

“True commitment to animal welfare”
The vegan cosmetics market is growing rapidly, and is expected to rise in value from $10.92 billion last year to $21.79 billion by 2034. This growth is believed to be driven by consumer preferences for natural, cruelty-free, and plant-based formulations, along with a desire for transparency and sustainability.
“More and more brands are incorporating a cruelty-free logo on their products, but not all of them are aware of the rigorous criteria that truly guarantee their cruelty-free status,” said Marisol Queupumil, Director of Te Protejo’s Certification Area. “To grant this certification, it is essential to evaluate the entire production chain and comply with specific regulations that only a specialized entity can verify.
“Therefore, we offer brands the opportunity to participate free of charge in a preliminary evaluation that will allow them to determine the feasibility of obtaining this prestigious seal. Both small and large companies have successfully passed this process, so we invite them to apply and demonstrate their true commitment to animal welfare and consumers seeking truly ethical products.”
