JUST Sells 2M Vegan Eggs, Plans to Expand to Asia

US food technology firm JUST has announced its imminent expansion to China. JUST Egg will become available in China via e-commerce platforms, including Tmall and JD in the coming weeks. JUST is also planning to roll out its plant-based egg in Chinese retail stores and restaurants.

CEO and founder Josh Tetrick took to social media last week to announce that his company has sold over 2 million vegan eggs since September: “Big milestone: Over 2 million eggs (without chickens) sold. Thanks to all 👊 #justegg.”

In addition to this continuing success, JUST Egg will ship to China from its North American manufacturing site, with tentative future plans to open a manufacturing site in Asia, most likely in China. China is the largest egg producer in the world, producing about 435 billion eggs per year, which provides big market opportunity for plant-based eggs.

“We want to pursue manufacturing opportunities here, and even distribute products to rural China, we believe that China should be the hub of food technology in helping the world eat better as the population increases,” Tetrick commented.

JUST is also planning to introduce its lab-grown meat, including wagyu beef and chicken into the Asian market.
