For the first time, plant-based meat replacement products are set to be available at Costco Australia. The wholesale chain is offering vegan burgers, which consumers can find in the frozen food department for 14.59 AU dollars per 1.5 kg package.
Costco is working with the vegan Fry Family Food Company, which has been producing vegan meat alternatives for 27 years. The price of the plant-based burgers is similar to that of beef products. Tammy Fry, International Marketing Director explains, “Our goal as a company is to make plant-based foods accessible to the masses.”
Supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and Tesco are also increasingly offering vegan meat substitutes.
