Improved Nature, a producer of shelf-stable, plant-based proteins, has announced an exclusive partnership with American food manufacturer RMS Foods.
The collaboration aims to provide Improved Nature’s clean-label, soy protein products at a value price for private label brands. Under this exclusive agreement, Improved Nature is set to become the sole supplier for all private-label plant-based protein products manufactured by RMS Foods.
Improved Nature’s CEO, Dr. Rody Hawkins, who also founded the renowned LUNCHABLES products, commented, “We believe it all starts with the right texture and taste. Consumers prefer the same texture and eating characteristics of meat, and we deliver that with simple plant proteins and no added ingredients.”

As part of the partnership, Improved Nature is unveiling a new line of heat-and-serve meals catering to foodservice and retail brands. These meals come in a diverse range of options, including Beefless Korean Bulgogi, Beefletss Steak Tips, Plant-based Sausage Patties and Links, Plant-based Nuggets, and Falafel.
RMS Foods, with its extensive experience in plant-based product manufacturing, will leverage Improved Nature’s proprietary plant-based technology to introduce plant-based alternatives to its consumers. Private-label food companies now have the opportunity to white-label Improved Nature’s plant-based protein products.
Exceeding the market’s needs
In an aligned move last year, Improved Nature introduced smaller, four oz. packages of its non-GMO, clean-label soy protein options tailored for meal kit companies, and the company continues to find ways to serve manufacturers, foodservice providers, restaurants, and institutions. “In collaboration with RMS Foods, we will exceed the market’s needs with our cost-effective, nutritious plant-based protein. Together, we can efficiently produce your plant-based products,” Hawkins continued.

In 2018, Improved Nature secured over $3 million in funding to expand its offerings and team, and the following year it introduced its plant-based chicken alternatives in ShopRite supermarkets. This marked the company’s initial launch in the retail sector, although these products are no longer sold at the chain.
President and CEO of RMS Foods, Sam D. Cobb, stated, “With the Improved Nature process, paired with our experience and capabilities, we will be able to provide highly cost-effective plant-based protein products that are sure to please both businesses and consumers across the nation.”
Improved Nature is scheduled to showcase its new products at the upcoming PLMA’s Private Label Trade Show, taking place from November 12-14 in Chicago.
