Frankie & Benny’s, Papa John’s, and Tortilla Launch New Veganuary Options

Three large food service chains — Frankie & Benny’s, Papa John’s, and Tortilla — have launched new Veganuary options in the UK.

Frankie & Benny’s

Italian-American chain Frankie & Benny’s is collaborating with plant-based brands Biff’s, THIS, and OGGS to launch a “Big Vegan Takeover” for Veganuary. Three new dishes have been introduced:

  • Biff’s Parmigiana Hoagie — smashed jackfruit wings served in a garlic ciabatta and topped with Napoletana sauce, THIS™ Isn’t Bacon, vegan cheddar sauce, and basil leaves. The sandwich is served with skin-on fries.
  • BBQ Spicy Banana Blossom Burger — a patty topped with vegan cheddar sauce and BBQ sauce. The burger also contains vegan mayo, lettuce, and red onion, and is served with skin-on fries.
  • OGGS Vegan Carbonara — a creamy garlic sauce tossed with fettuccine and mushrooms, topped with THIS™ Isn’t Bacon and parsley.

Papa John’s

Papa John’s has just launched the Ve-Du-Ya and Hot Pepper pizza, featuring plant-based ‘nduja (spicy spreadable sausage) topped with green peppers and jalapenos. The pizza is available with either dairy or vegan cheese, so plant-based eaters should specify their preference. Customers have eight weeks to try the limited-edition menu option.

Tortilla

Burrito and taco chain Tortilla is marking Veganuary with the launch of vegan chipotle mayo. The creamy sauce is infused with lime and smoky chipotle flavour, and adds to the chain’s extensive selection of vegan options; its menu is already over 70% plant-based.

“Our go-to combo is a tempeh chilli no carne burrito with grilled veg, hand-smashed guac, pickled red onion, and a good dollop of chipotle vegan mayo,” said the company. “Or, on top of your vegan chilli-loaded nachos. Pair with a serving of gooey choc-nut stuffed churros and a frozen margarita — they’re vegan too!”
