Vegetarianos Hoy Becomes Fundación Veg on World Vegan Day

Fundación Vegetarianos Hoy, the Latin American organization that promotes a change towards sustainable eating, announces today that it has left its old name and logo behind to respond to a more inclusive, empathetic, and changing environment. Although this name change was already indicated with the presentation of the book How to Be Vegan Today, authored by the organization’s founder and general director Ignacia Uribe, it was not until today that the news was publicly announced.  Uribe states, “We are happy to finally present this transformation that we have been working on for many months, which is actually an evolution. 46% of Chileans Are Decreasing Consumption of Animal-Based Foods

Market research company Ipsos, together with the international organization Vegetarianos Hoy, has launched the report “Estudio de Opinión Pública: Alimentación y Productos de Origen Animal“, which regards the opinion and practices of the Chilean population regarding their dietary choices. This year there was a significant increase in those who reported having tried to reduce their consumption of animal-based foods, from 36% in 2021 to 46% in 2023. Among those who have tried to reduce their intake of animal foods, 75% (-7%) have reduced their consumption of red meat, 66% (-8%) pork, and 25% (-6%) chicken or turkey. While in derived foods, 27% (-5%) tried to reduce their intake of cheese, 24% (+4%) of milk, and 14% (-4%) of eggs. 6% of the population identify as …

Vegetarianos Hoy: “The Vegan Movement in Latin America is Getting Stronger”

Santiago, Chile-based Fundación Vegetarianos Hoy (translating as Vegetarians Today) is an international organization working in Latin America to promote plant-based diets and to reduce the suffering of animals considered to be production animals. Vegetarianos Hoy has worked to certify products with its Sello Vegano (“vegan seal”) since 2013 and with V-Label since 2018, in Chile and other Latin American countries.
